LG Household and Health Care continued to rack up sales last year due to the growth of its premium cosmetics lines.
LG said Monday that its high-end cosmetics brand Whoo posted over W1.42 trillion in sales, up 18 percent on-year while its overall sales increased a mere 2 percent (US$1=W1,069).
It was widely expected that China's unofficial boycott of Korean products and services last year would hit hard the Korean cosmetics industry.
"Contrary to concerns about declining demand, we saw sales of premium cosmetics remain strong in addition to a surge in sales from Southeast Asia," a LG spokesman said.
