LG Electronics broke the W60 trillion mark in annual sales for the first time last year and posted its second-highest operating profit ever, the company said on Monday (US$1=W1,069).
The achievement is mainly due to strong profits on home appliances and TV sales and reduced operating losses from the smartphone business.
In the fourth quarter of last year, the company posted W16.97 trillion in sales, up 14.8 percent on-year, while operating profit turned around to reach W366.8 billion.
Its cumulative annual sales stood at W61.42 trillion and operating profits at W2.46 trillion, up 10.9 percent and 84.5 percent from 2016, respectively.
