The mercury plummeted again Tuesday morning after a relatively mild Christmas, and the cold snap is forecast to last until the end of the week.
Temperatures in Seoul hovered around -2 degrees Celsius in the morning but are expected to plunge to -7 degrees in the evening, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
Temperatures in other parts will be 4 to 5 degrees lower in the evening than in the morning.
Wednesday morning will start with a bone-chilling -11 degrees in Seoul, -14 degrees in Chuncheon and -9 degrees in Daejeon to -7 degrees in Daegu and -4 degrees in Busan.
The cold snap is expected to continue until Friday as cold air keeps coming into the Korean Peninsula due to the expansion of a continental anticyclone.
