Golfer Kim Si-woo donated W100 million to help raise a new crop of up-and-coming golfers, the Korea Golf Association said on Thursday (US$1=W1,083).
The gift fulfilled a promise Kim made after earning US$1.89 million for his victory at the Players Championship on the PGA Tour in May.
This year Kim participated in a number of tournaments including the Presidents Cup and achieved great results. Kim, who is just in his early 20s, wrapped up this season after earning total prize money of W3 billion, the highest among Korean golfers.
"I am happy I was able to do so and I can afford it," he said.
