Bitter cold swept across the country on Wednesday, with particularly heavy blizzards expected in central parts in the afternoon.
Only the east coast will be partly spared, but in most parts it is expected to snow until Thursday morning.
Three to 10 cm of snow are expected nationwide with possible heavy snow advisories, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
In Seoul, the mercury plummeted to -8 degrees Celsius in the morning, 4.7 degrees lower than average. But temperatures will rise slowly and go back to normal in most regions on Thursday.
