Another victim of Japan's wartime atrocities died over the weekend.
The Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan confirmed Tuesday that Song Shin-do, who was forced to serve in Japanese military brothels for seven years during World War II, died of old age last Saturday in Tokyo. She was 95.
Song was one of the victims who filed a lawsuit in 1993 seeking an official apology and compensation from the Japanese government. The motion was dismissed by Tokyo's Supreme Court.
She is the eighth survivor of the atrocity who dies this year. Only 32 now remain registered with the Korean government.
