President Moon Jae-in will be accompanied by around 260 Korean executives when he visits China from Wednesday, the biggest ever business delegation to accompany a Korean leader abroad.
Business insiders on Monday said a lot of businesspeople wanted to join Moon on his trip as an unofficial Chinese boycott is winding down.
Big names include SK chairman Chey Tae-won, LG vice chairman Koo Bon-joon and Hyundai Motor vice chairman Chung Eui-sun. Samsung is sending Yoon Boo-keun, head of Samsung Electronics home appliance division, because the group's de facto chief in in jail.
The business delegation hope to form some kind of federation with their Chinese counterparts, benchmarking Japanese companies that have established separate channels of communication with Chinese clients when Tokyo-Beijing relations were frayed over a territorial spat.
