The widow of folk singer Kim Kwang-seok is seeking police protection against harassment from the media amid claims that she murdered her husband.
Seo Hae-soon has already filed a defamation suit against a journalist and her brother-in-law for implicating her in the deaths of her husband and daughter although a fresh police investigation found no evidence.
Seo told police that she feels "pressured and scared" because reporters keep hounding her.
Police in Yongin south of Seoul decided to provide her with protection by boosting patrols around her home and placing her phone number on a priority list for dispatching officers.
Journalist Lee Sang-ho released a documentary in August that accused Seo of murdering her husband. In September, her brother-in-law also filed a report to police accusing her of letting her daughter die and defrauding the late singer's relatives of royalties for his songs.
But police said last week that a fresh investigation has found no evidence linking Seo to the daughter's death in 2007.
Kim died in what was ruled a suicide in 1996, when he was at the height of his fame.
