Japanese investment in Korea soared 347 percent on-year to US$867 million this third quarter, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Tuesday.
The figure is the highest since $1.24 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Japanese investment steadily dwindled until it began to recover in the fourth quarter last year with US$359 million.
So far this year, Japanese firms invested $1.69 billion, with $407 million in the first quarter and $412 million in the second.
