Hwang Jae-gyun, a former infielder for the San Francisco Giants, signed a four-year deal with the KT Wiz.
"We agreed a four-year deal worth W8.8 billion including bonuses with Hwang," a KT spokesman said on Monday (US$1=W1,122).
Hwang enjoyed his best season in 2016 while playing for the Lotte Giants and moved to the San Francisco Giants the following year under a one-year split contract.
The reality fell short of his dreams, however, as Hwang spent most of his time in the minor leagues, making just 18 major league appearances.
"I feel like I'm back in the very place where I started my professional career with Hyundai Unicorns in 2007. It motivates me to work hard. I will do my best to contribute to the team," Hwang said.
