Park Sung-hyun was selected as the recipient of this year's Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award with five events still remaining for this season, the LPGA announced on Wednesday.
Park has earned 1,413 points, far ahead of second-placed Angle Yin of the U.S., who has 615. Park's outstanding season so far includes a victory at the U.S. Women's Open in July.
"I am honored to receive this award, which was one of my goals from the beginning of the season," she said. "This is really special because you get only one chance in a lifetime."
Park is the third consecutive Korean recipient of the award -- after Kim Sei-young in 2015 and Chun In-gee in 2016 -- and the 11th Korean golfer to claim the award. The first was Pak Se-ri in 1998.
She will receive the award at a ceremony on Nov. 16.
