Chestnuts are one of the most popular nuts especially in autumn when they are best harvested.

The nutrient rich nuts contain carbohydrates, protein, fiber, and calcium, which are good for strong bones.

One chestnut has an average of 0.25 mg of vitamin B1, which is four times more than rice. Chestnuts also have a lot of carotenoid, an antioxidant that prevents skin aging and strengthens the immune system.

It is common to store chestnuts at room temperature, but it is best to store them in a cold place at around zero degrees Celsius. If kept at room temperature, they can go bad and get moldy quickly.

For easy preparation, pour boiling water onto chestnuts and leave them for 10 minutes before peeling.
