The U.K. is drawing up battle plans involving nuclear-powered aircraft carriers in case of a full-blown war with North Korea as the U.S. increases pressure on the renegade country, the Daily Mail reported Monday citing British government sources.
According to the scenario, the 65,000-ton aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth along with 12 F-35B fighter jets would be brought into service early to join U.S. warships off the Korean Peninsula. It would be accompanied by destroyers and frigates.
The paper said the "contingency plans have been mapped out in recent months amid fears these tensions could escalate into war."
