Exports have been gradually recovering in recent months, but the proportion of Korean shipments in the Chinese market has plunged below 10 percent so far this year.
Data by Korea Center for International Finance show Korean goods accounted for 9.4 percent of Beijing's total imports as of August. This is a notable decline compared to 10.4 percent two years ago.
Korea may find it difficult to regain the 10 percent threshold amid China's ongoing structural reforms aimed at reducing its reliance on imports.
An unofficial boycott of Korean goods and services added to the decline.
