The second terminal at Incheon International Airport was put through a comprehensive security test on Thursday ahead of its opening in time for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
Some 2,250 people acting as tourists were screened for hazardous liquids and non-metallic objects as they went through the body scanners. They were paid W50,000 to W100,000 to take part in the test run, with the total bill amounting to W200 million (US$1=W1,134).
Terminal 2 will be capable of handling 18 million visitors a year, while Terminal 1 processes 54 million travelers annually.
Korea has spent W4.9 trillion on the second terminal since 2009.
