Ryu Hyun-jin in Relationship with Sports Announcer

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin is head over heels in love with sports broadcaster Bae Ji-hyun. The two are dating and plan to marry once the baseball season is over, their agencies confirmed Wednesday. 

Ryu and Bae started seeing each other some two years ago and have maintained a good relationship based on respect and a shared passion for baseball, according to the agencies.

Though the date has not been set, the wedding is expected to take place around January next year. 

Bae, a former supermodel with a degree in English literature from Sogang University, is very popular among sports fans, who liken her to a goddess. She started her career at SBS ESPN in 2010. Bae currently hosts a baseball program for MBC Sports Plus. Her popularity has even landed her some commercials.

The couple were introduced to each other in the winter of 2014 by Ryu’s former Hanwha Eagles teammate Chung Min-chul. They grew close after Bae sent get-well messages to Ryu when he was in rehabilitation after shoulder surgery in early 2015. They started dating, with Bae visiting Ryu during her vacations.

After missing the last two seasons due to his injury, Ryu has made a successful comeback this season, posting five wins and seven losses with a 3.59 ERA.
