The Bank of Korea on Monday said it will issue W2,000 notes in celebration of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Some 2.3 million of the bills, which are legal tender, will be issued on Nov. 17, the first time the country marks a specific event on paper money rather than stamps or coins.
The bill measures 140 mm by 75 mm, with the front featuring images of seven Winter Olympic sports and its back images of a tiger and pine trees drawn by Kim Hong-do, a renowned Chosun Dynasty painter.
