Moon, Xi to Exchange Messages on 25th Anniversary of Ties

    President Moon Jae-in will exchange messages with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Thursday, the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry here said Tuesday.

    Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will also exchange messages with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

    Receptions are going to be held at the Korean Embassy in Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Seoul on Thursday, ministry spokesman Cho Joon-hyuk said. But Cho said it is still unknown who will attend the reception in Beijing as China has not officially responded to invitations.

    Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam will attend the Chinese Embassy reception in Seoul and give a speech.

    Meanwhile, President Moon Jae-in and first lady Kim Jung-sook joined Chinese Ambassador Qiu Guohong and his wife on Tuesday at an exhibition by Chinese painter Qi Baishi in Seoul to mark the anniversary, according to Cheong Wa Dae.
