Jin Air has served over 19 million domestic passengers since its launch nine years ago, the budget carrier said Monday.
The airline, a subsidiary of Korean Air, launched services with a route between Gimpo and Jeju on July 17, 2008, and carried 160,000 passengers in that year. It hit the 1 million passenger mark in 2009 and 10 million in 2015.
Jin Air now operates four routes to Jeju, with flights added from Cheongju, Busan and Gwangju.
But the bulk of the passenger numbers are still from the Gimpo-Jeju route. It flew 3 million passengers between the cities last year, leading the low-cost carrier market with a 29 percent share.
