Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will head a new institute at Yonsei University.

The university said Wednesday that it has appointed Ban as honorary president and professor in the institute and he will start the job next month.

Ban ended his two five-year terms at the global body late last year and tried to run for the Korean presidency but withdrew the bid.

The Christian university's institute was established in April this year to manage its volunteer projects, evangelical missions and other projects.
