Ultra-luxury automakers like McLaren and Rolls Royce are coming out with models specifically targeting Korean motorists to meet surging demand here.

McLaren said it will release five limited-edition 570S exclusively for Korean customers. McLaren makes the supercars based on its Formula One racing car technology.

The 570S Korean edition with a design featuring the Korean flag hits showrooms here next month.

Rolls Royce last month introduced two of its limited-edition Bespoke Collection here. One uses Seoul as a motif and the other the southern port city of Busan.

The Seoul edition features the red and blue colors of the Korean flag, and the Busan edition blue and silver, symbolizing the ocean and high-rise buildings in the port city. Other design patterns take their cues from the geometric shapes of the gates of hanok or traditional Korean houses.

Yoon Dae-sung at the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association said Rolls Royce sales surged 33 percent in April compared to the same period of 2016.
