Son Heung-min turned a page in the history of Korean football on Thursday when he scored two goals for Tottenham Hotspur in a game against Leicester City.
Son's goals, his 20th and 21st for this season, set a new record for the most goals by a Korean player in a European season.
His double with one assist added to Harry Kane's four goals to give Spurs a 6-1 victory.
Son's season tally now stands at 14 goals in the English Premier League, six in the FA Cup, and one in the UEFA Champions League. In the EPL alone, he has scored 29 goals in just two seasons since transferring from Germany's Bundesliga in September 2015.
In April, Son tied Korean goal-scoring records held by two Korean football legends -- Cha Bum-kun's 19 goals in a European season and Park Ji-sung’s record of 27 EPL goals.
Cha scored 19 times for Bayer Leverkusen in all competitions during the 1985-1986 season. Park amassed 27 league goals with Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers over eight seasons.
