Two of Korea's top golf stars -- Park In-bee and Choi Kyung-ju -- will compete in Korea in the same week for the first time in eight years.
Park was a gold medalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first woman in the history of golf to win all four major titles plus the Olympic gold medal.
However, despite her glorious achievements on the international stage, Park has not had much luck on the KLPGA Tour. She has competed in 16 domestic competitions for the last nine years, but has not won a title yet.
Park will have another go at lifting the trophy at the Doosan Match Play Championship, which kicked off its five-day run in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province on Wednesday.
A total of 64 golfers are divided into 16 groups, and after three days of round robin, the top golfers in each group will advance to the round of 16 tournament.
"I had a bogey-free day, and had good shots and putts overall on the first day of the event, so I look forward to the remaining games," Park said.
Meanwhile, Choi will compete in the SK Telecom Open in Incheon from Thursday. Choi has won the event three times in 2003, 2005 and 2008. This is his first competition in Korea for this season.
