A human skull was among several bone fragments found Tuesday in the wreck of the ferry Sewol, which sank with some 300 mostly young people on board in 2014.
Search workers said Tuesday that nine apparently human bone fragments were discovered on the third floor of the salvaged wreck.
"The bones were scattered, so we can't say for sure if they belong to a single person," a spokesman said. DNA analysis is expected to take about a month.
The third floor is where passengers other than students from Danwon High School had been staying. But since the bones were found in the hallway, it is possible that they could belong to another of the teenagers who are still officially missing.
Last week, the remains of one of the missing were found on the fourth floor.
