Korea tied 2-2 with Senegal on Sunday in a tune-up match for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which kicks off at home this weekend. Korea is hosting the biennial international men's youth football championship, which wraps up in mid-June.
After struggling early against the Senegalese players in the match in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, the Korean players soon turned things around.
Striker Cho Young-wook scored in the 18th minute, pouncing on the ball after the Senegalese goalkeeper failed to clear. Korea surrendered an equalizing header to Ibrahima Niane in the 31st minute, but were back in front just five minutes later as midfielder Paik Seung-ho found the net.
But Senegal tied the game with just five minutes remaining when Souleye Sarr converted a corner kick with a header.
The Korean players will move to Jeonju on Tuesday to prepare for their opening match against Guinea on Saturday.
