Korea Saw 2nd Hottest April on Record

    The average temperature for April were the second highest in history for the month.

    The Korea Meteorological Administration on Monday said the average temperatures in April was 13.9 degrees Celsius, second only to 14.9 degrees in 1998.

    The average daytime high was 20.3 degrees, the fourth highest in history, and the average morning low of 7.8 degrees the third highest.

    "We had a long stretch of clear skies last month," a weatherman said. "Strong sunlight significantly increased temperatures."

    On Monday, the temperature in Seoul climbed to a whopping 28.3 degrees,7.1 degrees higher than the average over the last 30 years.

    Weather will continue clear and hot on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures in the capital rising to 28 and 29 degrees.
