The Korea Equestrian Federation has effectively ended the riding career of Chung Yoo-ra, the daughter of ex-President Park Geun-hye's crony Choi Soon-sil, who funneled much of the shush funds she allegedly amassed into her daughter's dressage ambitions.
The KEF on Thursday said Chung is banned from competitions for life.
Chung is a former member of the national equestrian team and won a gold medal in the team dressage event at the Incheon Asian Games in 2014. But she is accused of receiving illegal favors in her admission to Ewha Womans University under a last-minute rule change for equestrians.
The KEF also learned that Chung, a single mother, did not show up for regular training on many occasions and submitted false documents to get a spot on the national team.
