Cherry blossoms started blooming in Seoul on Thursday, four days later than last year and four days earlier than usual.
The Korea Meteorological Administration declares the cherry blossom season to be under way when three fully open blossoms are observed on a cherry tree at its weather station in Seoul.
"Cherry blossoms also began to bloom on the famous street lined with cherry trees in Yeouido," the KMA said. "Peak bloom should arrive around next Tuesday."
Meanwhile, fine, warm weather is forecast across the country until the weekend, with above-average temperatures. On Friday, Seoul had a morning low of 8 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees higher than usual, with the daytime temperature likely rising to 23 degrees, 6 degrees higher than usual.
The capital will see a morning low of 10 degrees and a daytime high of 19 degrees on Saturday.
