Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates has been denied a U.S. work visa following a recent DUI conviction.
According to a source, the U.S. Embassy in Seoul rejected Kang's application for renewing his visa to enter the country.
Kang recently received a two-year suspended sentence for drunk driving.
The team's general manager Neal Huntington said in an interview with local media that it was "unrealistic" to expect Kang to play in the season opener.
He added that Kang was unable to join the spring training camp, while his visa rejection made it impossible for him to enter the U.S.
