Samsung on Monday unveiled some of the new functions on its flagship smartphone, including the Bixby voice recognition program, about a week prior to the promotional blitz for Galaxy S8 in the U.S. and the U.K. slated for March 29.
"Bixby allows users to execute almost all the functions of the smartphone," a Samsung executive said in a press release. "Eventually, we plan to extend the use of Bixby to all home appliances, such as televisions and air conditioners."
Bixby is said to be able to recognize objects through a camera, and to "read" text.
The phone is expected to come with a big screen with minimal bezel, while the fingerprint scanner appears to have been moved to the back.
