Hyundai Motor saw its U.S. sales rise 3.3 percent in January from a year earlier to 46,500 cars, the automaker said on Thursday.
The solid performance was led by strong sales of the Santa Fe and Tucson SUVs. Hyundai sold some 7,800 Santa Fes, up 53 percent on-year, while sales of the Tucson grew over 10 percent. The Accent saw a 40 percent increase in sales and Elantra 33 percent.
But sales of the company's popular Sonata slipped 48 percent from last year to 7,900 cars. This has raised fears that it could drag down the company's overall performance.
