Hwang Jae-gyun is going to get the chance to pursue his dream in the big league as he signs a one-year contract with the San Francisco Giants.
If Hwang makes it on the main 25-man roster after spring training, he will get US$1.5 million base salary with an incentive of up to W1.6 million based on the number of games he plays (US$1=W1,168).
If he does not make the cut, he can be assigned to the minor league or find another team for transfer. This is similar to the arrangement Lee Dae-ho had with the Seattle Mariners last year.
"You won't get anywhere unless you try," Hwang said. "I will do my utmost to make it to the 25-man roster."
