The independent counsel investigating the crony scandal hopes to question two witnesses this week over a blacklist of "hostile" artists drawn up by Cheong Wa Dae.

The first to be questioned will ex-presidential chief of staff Kim Ki-choon, an ancient retainer to President Park Geun-hye's family who is accused of ordering the list of nearly 10,000 cultural figures critical of the government.

Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Cho Yoon-sun, who was a Cheong Wa Dae secretary at the time, will also be summoned this week.

Kim allegedly ordered the blacklist to be drawn up between August 2013 and February 2015. The independent counsel has secured evidence of Kim's leading role in drawing up and managing the list.

Cho is accused of involvement in compiling the list and of perjury for first telling a National Assembly hearing that she knew nothing about it.
