Two Korean women were raped by a taxi driver in Taiwan last Friday evening, local media reported Sunday.

SET News said three Korean university students were sightseeing in a taxi in Taipei and lost consciousness after consuming a drink the driver had offered.

One of the women, who was sitting in the front seat, got off at a night market because she felt drowsy, but the two women in the back were too sedated to move.

They reported the crime after recovering consciousness. The driver was arrested the next day and confessed to raping them. A blood test of the women found traces of sedatives.

One of the victims appealed for help on an online travel forum, saying she had no memory of the incident but that her friend tried to resist when the man removed her underwear.

The women had taken an unlicensed tour organized by an online agency called Jerry Travel, which hooks up taxi drivers with customers for a commission.

A local said, "You can make reservations through KakaoTalk, and the service is advertised on Korean-language blogs, but here in Taiwan the business is notorious for being illegal."
