Sesame seeds, perilla seeds and peanuts can be helpful for those with cardiovascular diseases during wintertime, according to recommendations by the Rural Development Administration.

When temperatures drop, our veins contract, increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and cardiac arrest. Sesame seeds, perilla seeds and peanuts reduce cholesterol levels in blood, thereby lowering the risk of such diseases.

Sesame seeds are known to accelerate recovery from any trauma to the skin and mucous membranes, and neutralize the toxic oxygen-free radicals in the body.

Perilla seeds are full of fiber and omega-3. Our bodies cannot produce omega-3, but its essential fatty acids must be supplemented through food intake. Omega-3 helps prevent cardiovascular diseases, as it can boost body circulation and also prevents dementia. Fiber helps with metabolism while discharging bodily waste.

Peanuts contain the antioxidant resveratrol, which is known to be effective in fighting cancer. It protects the coronary artery from damage and prevents blood clotting which can lead to heart failure and stroke.
