Son Heung-min played the most matches among Korean players this year, the Korea Football Association said Thursday.
Son appeared in a total of 57 matches -- 47 for his club Tottenham Hotspur in the U.K. Premier League, and 10 to represent Korea.
That is similar to superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The sheer number means that Son is regarded as one of the most valuable players both in his club and the national team, although his performance shows frequent ups and downs.
