Sex Slavery Victim Dies Aged 94

Another victim of imperial Japan's conscription of sex slaves for troops in World War II has died without seeing justice done.

Park Sook-yi died at the age of 94 on Tuesday, reducing the total number of survivors to just 39 out of a total 238 who were listed by the Korean government.

Born in Namhae, South Gyeongsang Province in 1922, Park was taken by Japanese soldiers while collecting clams at sea when she was just 16.

She was abused in Japanese-occupied Manchuria for six years and took another seven years to return home after Korea's liberation from Japan in 1945.
