Pitcher Kim Kwang-hyun signed a four-year contract worth W8.5 billion with the SK Wyverns on Tuesday, ending speculation of his move to Major League Baseball (US$1=W1,171).

The left-hander had thought of playing in the MLB after he became a free agent this year, but he decided to return to his original team due to his physical condition and fear of failure.

"I will return in better form after working hard to get back in shape during the offseason," Kim said.

The Wyverns said Kim will undergo a medical examination of his elbow at a hospital in Japan as he injured his elbow this season.

Kim was posted to the MLB after the 2014 season, but negotiations with the San Diego Padres broke down due to an unsatisfactory offer.
