Korea placed 37th in FIFA's world rankings on Thursday, up seven notches from last month. It is the first time in three years and nine months that the country has made the top 40.
The rise reflects two victories this month, one in a friendly against Canada (2-0), and the other a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan in an Asian qualifier for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Korea ranked second among Asian countries, behind only Iran (30th) and followed by Japan (45th) and Australia (48th).
