Korea is steadily becoming a regional destination for overseas study.
Last month, according to the Ministry of Justice, the number of foreign students in the country surpassed 120,000 for the first time, up almost 20 percent from a year earlier.
Most of the students come from China with 58 percent, followed by Vietnam at about 11 percent and Mongolia at just under five percent. Thirty percent came on a visa specifically for studying Korean.
Meanwhile the total number of foreigners in Korea as of last month, student or otherwise, stood at about 2.03 million, up 2.3 percent from the previous month.
