Oh Seung-hwan of the St. Louis Cardinals returned home as he wrapped up his rookie season in Major League Baseball.
Oh posted a 1.92 ERA with six wins, three losses, 19 saves and 14 holds in 76 appearances.
"Although the Cardinals could not advance to the postseason, I think I did my best to contribute to the team," Oh said in a press event on Wednesday. "But it is regrettable that I was unable to achieve 20 saves," he added.
Despite his stellar season, Oh was excluded from a 50-man preliminary roster for the World Baseball Classic, an international tournament to be held next year.
"I respect the decision by the Korea Baseball Organization," Oh said.
The pitcher was eliminated from selection due to a gambling scandal. He was slapped with fines early this year for illegally gambling in Macau in 2014.
