Golfer Park Sung-hyun donated W100 million to the Community Chest of Korea on Friday.

Park's seven wins on the KLPGA tour this season have earned her W1.21 billion, breaking the previous record for the most money won in a single season set by Kim Hyo-joo in 2014.

"I struggled with financial difficulties when I started golfing. Hopefully my donation will help young people in need," Park said. "Making donations motivates me to do better in competitions, so I'd like to keep donating as much as I can."

It is not the first time she has donated money. Last year, Park donated W114.2 million in proceeds from a charity auction she arranged with her fans to the Community Chest of Korea.

"I hope to establish a foundation to nurture talented young golfers, as Choi Kyung-joo has done," Park said. "That's why I'm trying to save most of my earnings."

"I don't think one needs a lot of money to be happy. I'm happy just taking a rest or watching movies," she added.
