Weightlifter Jang Mi-ran will likely be given a bronze medal for the London Olympics after all, four years since the event ended and three years since she retired from the sport.
The reason is that the International Weightlifting Federation on Thursday said 11 weightlifters failed retrospective drug tests, including Armenia's Hripsime Khurshudyan, who took the bronze with a total of 294 kg in the women's +75 kg in London.
Jang ranked just behind her by lifting a total of 289 kg.
With Khurshudyan likely to be stripped of the medal, Jang moves up a notch, which would then mean she won medals in three Olympics in a row -- silver in Athens in 2004, gold in Beijing in 2008, and the London bronze.
In an interview on Thursday, Jang said she is not completely happy to grabbing the bronze only as a result of a doping scandal.
