Park Yu-chun of boy band JYJ is under investigation for sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s, according to police on Monday.
The woman pressed charges last Friday accusing Park of sexually assaulting her in the bathroom of a bar. The woman submitted to police her underwear as evidence.
Park's agency C-JeS Entertainment in a statement denied the woman's allegation. "We will not cave in to malicious blackmail intended to ruin a celebrity," it said. Police plan to summon both Park and the woman for questioning soon.
Park debuted in 2003 as part of five-member band TVXQ, which became hugely popular in Korea and Japan. He left TVXQ along with two other members in 2010 to form JYJ.
Park began his mandatory military service on non-active duty in a public office in Seoul last August.
