Lee Chung-yong of Crystal Palace was fined after reportedly criticizing his team manager Alan Pardew.

The amount has not been revealed but could reach 30,000 pounds, an unusually large sum.

The friction started when gave an interview to the Korean press in late April 29 in which he complained about being overlooked by the manager since recovering from a knee injury and saying there was no reason to stay with the team next season.

But Pardew denied letting Lee down and said he should not have gone public with his criticism.

Lee then backtracked and claimed his remarks had been "distorted" in translation, but this was not accepted.

Since transferring to the club in 2015, Lee has spent much of his time on the bench. Although the season is nearing its end, he has scored only two goals in 16 matches out of the 44 his team played this season.

When he was with the Bolton Wanderers, he was one of the team's key players, appearing in around 40 matches.
