Korea and China agreed to establish a joint environmental center to tackle growing air pollution problems. The center will be based in Beijing, where a special task force will research pollutants as well as new environmental technologies.
The plans were mulled on Tuesday, on the sidelines of a trilateral meeting between Korea, China and Japan to discuss environmental issues held in Shizuoka, Japan.
The average levels of fine dust in China were over 5 times those stated in last year's World Health Organization's guidelines, and pollution from China has increased smog in Korea in recent years.
