South Korea and the U.S. have completed three days of joint drills in the East Sea, the Navy said Monday.
The U.S. sent the USS North Carolina attack submarine to the drills to boost the allies' combat readiness against any North Korean submarine attack.
The nuclear-powered sub is capable of carrying Tomahawk cruise missiles and torpedoes with a range of 1,250 to 2,500 km.
The sub is also designed to carry combat forces behind enemy lines and undertake other stealth missions like strikes on nuclear missile bases.
