The Suwon District Court on Thursday sentenced a 27-year-old woman to three years and six months in prison for secretly filming women in showers and locker rooms at water parks and swimming pools in Seoul and nearby areas.
The court also sentenced a 35-year-old man to four years and six months for paying the woman to take the hidden camera footage and posting it online.
They were also ordered to undergo 80 hours of sexual abuse counseling.
"The defendants committed the crime deliberately, including having prior consultations on whom and how to film. And their crime did damage to many people," the court said. "It's inevitable to impose heavy penalties commensurate with their crime."
The woman filmed naked women in showers and locker rooms at six water parks, outdoor swimming pools, and hot spas in Seoul and Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces from July to November 2014, using a cell phone case equipped with a mini camera the man had given her.
She was paid about W2 million in total (US$1=W1,216).
