Deaf Junior tennis player Lee Duck-hee will make his first appearance at a major event on Jan. 18.

Born in May 1988, he is the youngest among the 252 players to participate in the men's single at the Australian Open Tennis Championships this year.

Lee qualified for the event after his global ranking rose from 505 to 229 in January last year.

"I have achieved my dream of competing in a major," he said. "I'm happy that I'm gradually making small steps to my goals."

Last year, he won seven Futures tournaments, the developmental professional tours run by the International Tennis Federation.
