Christmas, only a couple of days away, is supposed to be a jolly season, but an analysis of data shows otherwise.
According to market researcher Daumsoft, an analysis of posts related to Christmas on blogs and Twitter from November to mid-December showed an increase in the number of people who wrote about feeling lonely.
The number of posts including words related to "lonely" jumped by five times to more than 17,000, a sharp increase from the 3,000 posts in 2011. And mentions of the words "joyful," "happy" and "waiting" were down compared to five years ago.
